Full-stack hardware and software engineer / Algorithm engineer / Experienced in system solution design and implementation / Post-2000 generation

Biography

Deyang Lin chose to work full time on a robotics studio after being recommended for graduate admission during his senior year in 2022. The studio provides integrated robot solutions for education and competition scenarios. As founder and CTO, he is responsible for the hardware and software technical direction, system solution design, and implementation, while also serving as an end-to-end robotics design engineer. His long-standing passion for robotic systems enables him to independently drive complex robot development from concept and mechanical structure to electronics and software control, while balancing performance, cost, usability, and market competitiveness.

In 2024, after the studio became more stable and part of its work had been productized, he began exploring consumer-product entrepreneurship for overseas markets in the Pest Control field. The direction focuses on making traditional products with persistent and growing demand smarter and easier to use through intelligent hardware and software systems. As CTO, starting from an early two-person team, he participated in and led product definition for smart rodent and mosquito control products, prototype design, manufacturing introduction, global multi-region IoT hardware and software architecture, and app design. He also built an AI-assisted hardware and software co-development workflow inside the team, enabling faster iteration across both hardware and software.

Core strengths
  • Hardware design (mechanical design and embedded design)
  • Software design (full-stack web development and IoT system architecture)
  • Extensive 0-to-1 project experience, from idea, MVP, and engineering to team building and product launch
Education
  • B.E. in Automation, 2018~2022

    Guangdong University of Technology

  • Recommended for admission to Jilin University's School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in 2022. As the studio's business had already become very busy, I took a leave of absence shortly after enrollment and went all in on the studio. On leave from 2022 to 2023; withdrew in 2024 to continue building a new entrepreneurial direction.

Research group work after graduate recommendation
School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Jilin University (Prof. Xuefei Li)
Sep 2021 – Mar 2022 online

Responsibilities include:

  • I have constructed a Docker-based development environment for ROS1/ROS2 and created a Docker image for ROS Bridge, enabling the potential for edge devices (such as Jetson AGX Xavier) to utilize both ROS1 and ROS2 concurrently.
  • Accomplished the data conversion based on Livox LiDAR and PointPillar algorithm (using Livox Dataset), training, and forward inference implementation (with ROS bags collected from real industrial environments in mining areas). This enabled the identification of truck targets within point clouds, laying the foundation for precise recognition of truck dumping poses in the next step.
  • Completed my graduation thesis, which primarily involved utilizing RGB images and CAD models of detected objects in the images to determine the poses of the detected objects relative to the camera coordinate system.

Individual developer (maker)
High & Middle schools
Jan 2015 – Aug 2018 Guangdong, China

From a young age, I developed a strong interest in mechanical and electronic design, and through self-study I independently completed multiple projects. That passion has stayed with me ever since. Sometimes I feel very, very fortunate to have found a direction I love when I was still so young, and that this direction also aligns with the needs of the times.

  • (Middle school) Constructed a crane that can be wirelessly controlled using a joystick remote. This Arduino-based project earned me second prize on the geekfans website.
  • (Grade 10) Designed a device that can securely attach multiple infrared detection probes to the underside of a vehicle. This device is used to detect animals underneath the vehicle, and it wirelessly consolidates the detection signals, transmitting them to an onboard receiving and display device. The project received second prize in the provincial youth science and technology innovation competition.
  • (Grade 11) Designed a device to detect whether a driver is wearing a helmet properly. If the helmet is not worn correctly, it can trigger an alarm or disable the vehicle’s ignition button. This project received first prize in the provincial youth science and technology innovation competition.
